There was a time when I thought I was simply a magnet for trouble. Now I know better. If you want to call me the Black Widow, I’m going to own it. You want a monster? I’ll give you one. I’ll alienate you from everything you know and love. You will learn the hard way that evil doesn’t only lurk in our imaginations.

The tall, dark and handsome cop would be well-advised to steer clear of me. He knows better than to get tangled in the web I’ve weaved. I warned him. I told him not to mess with me if he values his life. You’re probably wondering what’ll happen when my darkest truths unravel. It’s not my problem anymore. If he sticks around, he will be the author of his own misfortune.

INTEREST FORM

Writing is Art, right?!

It sounds like everyone had a great time at Tilbury’s Annual Art in the Park this year. I know I did. I even treated myself to a bowl of black cherry ice cream. Ice cream on super hot day. Yum!

We, at Black Widow Publishing, among 125+ other creative Artisan vendors, set up our tents and tables for 2 days of fun in the sun in the beautiful Odette Park in Tilbury, Ontario. My tables were filled with paperback novels, wrapped mystery books, magnets, teasers and of course a wonderful giveaway.

Scroll down for more pics of me and my author table, to hear about the fun we had at my table, or to watch my video announcement!

My Not-so-secret NaNoWriMo Project

For those of you who don’t know #NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. The entire point of the program is for writers to start a new novel on November 1, track their progress, and write a 50,000 word novel in a month!

NaNoWriMo Icon

I didn’t sign up on the formal website, because I wanted to spend my time writing rather than worrying about how to track it on their site. Instead, I secretly opened a new OneNote Notebook electronically, in preparation I outlined the entire story from start to finish with bullet points of what has to happen when, so on November 1st I could get down to business.

Oh, wow, did my plan ever work!

Guess who won NaNoWriMo at 1:04 a.m. this morning?

Novembers are always hectic for me, but this year I decided to take the plunge and join hundreds of thousands of writers who do this every year. You won’t believe which story I’ve written!

Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures

You know the saying that goes a little something like this?

If you do what you have always done, you will get what you’ve always gotten.

Many people attribute this quote to Anthony Robbins, Henry Ford, and even Albert Einstein. The point to be taken away here is:

If you want something you’ve never had, then you must do something you’ve never done.

HERE GOES NOTHING!

You know me, always trying new things. With my newest book, which I’ve been sitting on since June 2015 due to its unusual nature, I’ve decided to try something drastic. I want to grow my reader base. I want to get my books in front of lots and lots of faces. This plan could fail miserably and ruin my book launch, or maybe something truly amazing will happen. I’ll never know unless I try. (more…)

Cover Reveal: Playing House by Christa Simpson

A special COVER REVEAL is coming your way!

Title: Playing House by Christa Simpson

Publisher: Black Widow Publishing

Expected Release: March 4, 2017

Genre: Dark Erotic Thriller (18+)

If I can’t be happy, no one can.

My name is Clarisse Blackwell. With nothing left to lose, I’m a dangerous woman. There’s a reason they call me the Black Widow. My boyfriend died trying to kill me, and my husband died trying to save my life.

Destroyed by grief, and consumed by an urge to bring revenge so passionately, darkness devours my soul. A master of persuasion, I trick and tease, reducing a grown man to trembling knees to make him see what it’s like to be me. He’ll learn the hard way, as you will, that my sweet revenge only feeds the dark thrill of causing others pain.

Lying. Cheating. Stealing. It’s what I do. You think you know me? You don’t, and neither does the man whose life mustn’t be worth living anymore. Our relationship is like an explosion set to detonate on my command. He thinks he knows me. His mistake. He thinks he’s different. He doesn’t believe I’m cursed. I’ll make him believe.

Lives will end, minds will be blown, and one thing is for certain:

the Black Widow will strike again.

Chapter One:

Ignorance truly is bliss. My car pulls away from the curb, my tousled hair dancing in the wind as if our autumn is unseasonably warm. You can’t believe everything you see. In all honesty, it’s not that warm. I have a chill running through my body that I can’t escape. I probably would have closed up my car window a long time ago, if I could have, but it’s stuck halfway down. I’m just lucky the raincloud over there is keeping its distance. Lucky. Hah! I’m lucky like that man up ahead.

Look at his tidy pile of leaves. He probably spent his entire morning raking those things into a heap next to the curb and is proud of himself for beating the rain. I smirk at the rotund, older man in his front yard. He hasn’t even had enough time to put away his rake. Instead, he stands there proudly, leaning against the handle and scratching his overfed belly. I can’t resist. Someone has handed this opportunity to me, and I simply can’t pass it up.

My foot presses deeper into the accelerator, thrusting my small car forward. I glare at the old man from beneath dark lashes. His eyes immediately connect with mine, begging me to rethink what I’m about to do. That only encourages me further. I veer toward the pile, blasting through the leaves and cheering with a crazed depth to my voice.

“Woooooo!”
