For Fun!!

A Wild, Hot, Romantic Adventure

It’s Friday the thirteenth, the day before Valentine’s day, and the day the Fifty Shades of Grey Movie releases. Coincidence? Just saying.

Do you know how I feel about Valentine’s day? I think one of my books will most efficiently answer that question for you.

Cute blonde lady with soft skinFinding Destiny was never meant to be a holiday romance, but it just kind of turned out that way. The first line of the story happens to start with, “I absolutely hate Valentine’s day.” Of course that’s a little harsh. The entire story is actually centered around three ladies who wanted to go away and pamper themselves for Valentine’s weekend to avoid the stress of the holiday while being single, but what ends up happening is their piece of shit truck breaks down during a huge snowstorm in the middle of nowhere and three knights in shining armour come to their rescue—on snowmobiles.

Escape by Fiction said:

“Finding Destiny is a wild, hot, romantic adventure.”

Excerpt:

When he pressed his lips in her hair, she knew she was a goner.  With nothing but a kiss and a few small facts about his family life, she had fallen for him.  And she couldn’t even hide it.

“Thank you for this,” she whispered.  Why had she voiced her thoughts?  She wished she could take it back, because Skylar knew she wasn’t talking only about saving her from a snow cloud.

Then Skylar chuckled, and his desirous voice tickled her ear, making her quickly forget about her embarrassment.  “You don’t have to thank me, Destiny.  I only do what I want, and right now I want to be here with you.”

His words whispered over her body, and she fought the urge to thank him again.  Then she felt him curling around her, and his lips unexpectedly brushed across hers. (more…)

7 Things You Need to Give up this year!

image

I may be talking about myself and I may be talking about others…you know who you are. One thing is for sure: we could all handle giving up these seven things this year!

My biggest challenge???

Procrastination is sitting at the number one spot for a reason!

As an author, social media is my number one no noTwitter, Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest, Goodreads and now Instagram, OH MY!! Hours can fly by and I can chat with fabulous people, learn incredible things and have a good old laugh, but nothing more is had but a good time. Productivity is minimal, while my list of things to do grows infinitely.

Speaking of which…I have to go finish preparing my post for my Beautifully Broken cover reveal next Saturday! 😉

Which of the above are you guilty of? Come on, don’t be shy. 🙂

Very Inspiring Blogger Award

I’ve received the Very Inspiring Blogger Award and I’d like to thank my Twitter friend, Marlena Hand, for nominating me!

Please don’t look at the date of Marlena’s post when you stop over to her site to see it. I’m just catching up on my backlog and will be happy when I have a clean inbox. Yes, it’s been many months since I’ve seen that. I was starting to think I’d never get there! There are about five more things sitting pretty (without deadlines) that need my attention, but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Okay, enough about dark places and crossing over…

Here are the rules:

1. Link back to the person nominating you for the award. (Check)
2. Display the Very Inspiring Blogger Logo. (Check)
3. Reveal seven things about yourself. (Oh boy, this should be fun.)
4. Nominate seven others to receive the award. (Easy enough, right?)

She asked, so I’ll tell ya… 7 things about me:

1.     I love lounging around in sweat pants and a hoodie. I wear dress clothes every day, at least Monday through Friday, and I swear the second I get home the first thing to go is the suit. If I don’t strip the second I walk in the door from work, then it’s guaranteed that as soon as I’m done cleaning up from dinner that I slip into something more comfortable.

2.     I’m addicted to Netflix. As soon as the weather started to turn to crap, me and my girls started watching it like it was going out of style. (more…)

Raise a Reader

My girls play a BIG part in my life. Although I don’t talk about them too often on here, today is going to be one HUGE exception! Can I just say how proud I am of them? They’ve inspired me to write this post tonight. Both of them came home with a spelling test and each had earned a perfect score! When I asked the oldest how the rest of her grade 4 class did, she reluctantly admitted that most did significantly worse than her. Look at those words… there are some tough ones in there!

Then there’s my youngest. She’s in the bottom grade of a grade 2/3 split class. She tried the optional bonus word (for the grade 3’s in her class) and even got that correct! I was so happy I did up a little photo to show you. 😀 😀

I have to believe that their success stems from our love of reading. (more…)

How Romantic?!

So here we are…  Valentine’s Day.  A day of love, lust and longing.  A day of jealousy, distraction and envy.  Which side of the boat are you sitting on today?

This may or may not make you feel any better about that.  It’s Valentine’s day.  It’s Friday.  My husband works every Friday night.  Of course, Valentine’s day is not a real holiday, so we don’t actually get to take the day off, and I’m not even sure that the hubby would were it an optional thing.  Money over matter.  Isn’t that how the saying goes?  😉

Anyways, when I’m done work at 5:00, I won’t be going home to do myself up in anticipation of my hot date tonight.  I won’t be looking extraordinarily fabulous, so I can go out with my friends and act like I’m absolutely wonderful on my own.  In fact, when my hubby gets home, I’ll probably have already slipped into something a little more comfortable.  By comfortable, I mean the fuzzy, super warm pjs my mom got me for Christmas.  Nothing sexy about them… unless you think powder blue plaid is sexy.  Bahaha.  If you do, then you have other issues.

Oh, great. Now I’m starting to feel bad for my hubby. How the hell did that happen? Should I really rethink my choice of pajamas? It’s not that I don’t have a lovely hoard of silky, lacy things that leave nothing to the imagination. But I’m not the 20 year old, hot little thing I once was, and my hubby is not the buff, mysterious, sex machine he was when I met him. (more…)

Endearments: How do you draw the line between cute and creepy?

Endearments.  Yes or No?

How do you feel about them being used in a romance novel?  Do you use them on a regular basis without even realizing it?  I admit I call my girls names like: hon; sweetie; babe or baby-doll – just to name a few.  But when is it appropriate to use them on adults, and how do you draw the line between cutesy and creepy?

Just A Kiss?

Edwin or Cameron?   Who do you think **** (‘he’) is? Read the short excerpt and play along.  Come on, it’ll be fun.  🙂  But you’ll have to read Twist and Turn to find out for sure. 😉 COMING SOON.

****’s haunting eyes never left mine as the office fell eerily silent, except for the random curse of staff trying to wrap up their work before the battery backup shut down.  The hydro didn’t flash back on; not even a flicker.  My eyes were wide, then tried to focus on the man before me.

**** drew closer to me yet, until his face was so close to mine I could feel his warm breath. I closed my eyes and gulped, not knowing what to expect next. He brushed his fingers under my chin and cautiously kissed my upper lip. His mouth made a soft smooching sound that jump started my heart.

That soft kiss was so electrically charged that I wondered if the entire office had felt it. I was overwhelmed with emotions: confusion, excitement and relief. My feelings toward him came rushing back like a tsunami, as his mouth touched mine again. The sparks flying between us could have serviced the whole office. (more…)

Five Fun Things About Me

So you may not know these five things about me, but Cassandra Janey and Papizilla seem to think you might care.  Let me tell you.

1.  I’m a romance writer who fell in love with her hubby at first sight (of his bulging biceps).  He seems to think there’s more to it than that.  We’ll just let him believe that.  Only teasing honey, you know I love you.  😉
I scrap booked him cuz I'm adorable like that.

That’s my hubby.  I scrapbooked him cuz I’m adorable like that.
