The Air He Breathes | Book Review

My book review follows, but first… look at this cover!

Are you a fan of book cover model Franggy Yanez and his beard? I think they hit the ball out of the park with this book cover. It practically sold the story.

The story:

I was warned about Tristan Cole. “Stay away from him,” people said. “He’s cruel.” “He’s cold.” “He’s damaged.”

It’s easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster. But I couldn’t do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him, because it also lived inside of me.

We were both empty. We were both looking for something else. Something more. We both wanted to put together the shattered pieces of our yesterdays. Then perhaps we could finally remember how to breathe.

Book Excerpt

“Wow. You’re a vision, you know that?” He practically drools all over. She wears a pair of blue jeans and a low cut green sweater with a white scarf wrapped around her neck. Her hair is up, and she wears light make up.

She chuckles. “Like what you see?” She smirks at him, daunting him. The little vixen can come out and play when she wants and he is enjoying this side of the sexy Gracelynn.

He decides to play dirty himself. “Want to see how happy I am to see you?” He smirks back at her. “Let’s make a wager, shall we?” he asks competitively.

She grins at him. She intently twirls a strand of her hair that she left down by her face between her fingers, licks her lips and stares at him. She looks him up and down, making him even more drawn to her.

He gulps. The damn vixen knows how to play dirty.

“Well, what is the wager? Because if it is staring at each other all night, I could do that and then some.”

Why you should read this story . . .

If you’ve been following my blog, you might recall that I received an ARC of this book and previously posted my review. You can check that out here. You might also know I’m a strong supporter of Tanya Vought. Love that girl. You might know her as Tanya – The Book Obsessed Momma. That’s right: not only is she a loyal supporter of indie authors, she’s a dedicated book blogger, a thoughtful mother of two, and one of my bestest besties ever. Now this amazing woman has tagged author of beautiful prose onto her title!

Granted Wishes is a perfect story for readers who enjoy a sweet romance with a spunky heroine and a protective hero. There’s a paranormal element to this story as well that people who believe in second chances and divine intervention will appreciate most. The book officially releases today, so pick up your copy and enjoy!

Twisted Desire – Book#4 in The Twisted Series

Twisted Desire by Christa Simpson, Book #4 in the Twisted Series, Confident young man shirtless portrait with machine gun againstTwisted Desire is a work in progress.

I’ve just reached the 50% mark in writing it. This story is going to be Book #4 in The Twisted Series, the first one following Abby’s adventures in The Twisted Trilogy. It will stand alone, coming from the perspective of Abby’s best friend, Aliah Brooklin, and Aliah’s new man, Harley Gates.

Here’s an unedited teaser, to give you an idea of how Aliah and Harley’s relationship will go. Enjoy!!

Harley springs to his feet and pulls a gun from his pants, but he doesn’t aim it at anyone. Aliah jumps backward, with both her hands raised, like she’s a criminal.

Harley scans the perimeter with only his eyes. “Get on the bike.”

She takes a second to scowl at him and then stomps back to his parked motorcycle. “Fine. But you can put the gun away. Are you trying to kill someone?”

“Aliah. I swear to God. I’m not going to say it again. Get on the bike. Now.”

Twist & Turn by Christa Simpson

Twist & Turn by Christa Simpson

Reality slammed me flat in the face when I noticed a client lingering by the empty reception desk. The man was facing away from me and yet he still managed to exude such confidence. The way his short, dark blonde hair was spiked in a sophisticated disarray was incredibly attractive. Then there was the way he stood with his hands casually tucked in the pockets of his expensive, black suit.

I knew I had to approach him.

“Hi. Can I help you with something?” I blurted, looking forward to setting eyes on that face of his, hopeful that it would be as intriguing as the rest of the package.

He spun around to face me and attacked me with his gorgeous features. I could not believe my eyeballs. His eyebrows hung low over his squinted sunset-shaped eyes. If eyes could smile, then his were beaming at me. Excitement flooded my chest with the instant realization that Taylor, the receptionist, was nowhere to be found.

When he caught my captivated stare, he glanced down momentarily, then wrinkled his sexy forehead, raising his eyebrows and giving me a better look into those gorgeous crystal eyes. Oh. My. God. If possible, this man just got cuter. (more…)

Romance Is Where The Heart Is

After reading a handful of reviews for my short story A GLIMMER OF HOPE, it left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling (kind of like when I read the ending of my story). However, a few critics who I was expecting to weigh in did not, and needless to say that it got me more than a little bit worried. So what do I do when something’s bothering me?  Call them out on it.
