He Can Hold Me Captive Any Day

So I just finished reading ‘Captive at Christmas’ by Danielle Taylor. I tell you, it doesn’t need to be Christmas time to read this steamy novella.

Summary: Mac’s house is under renovation and so he’s staying at a quaint cabin for a few weeks until the work is complete. Little does he know that Hannah also booked the luxury cabin for that time. He seems to have serious trust issues and thinks she’s some kind of spy or assassin and in turn holds her captive on her two week vacation.

Though their relationship starts out with a gun to her head, Hannah seemed to be a rather willing victim and if you knew what this guy looked like, so would you. He is such a sexy bad ass that you can’t help but like him. (more…)

Have a Heart

My heart hurts. It’s true. I have been blissfully ignorant of one thing while I attempted to take the next step on my publishing journey. Book reviews. I always knew that there would be others reviewing my story and my writing skills once I got my book out there, but never could I imagine the emotions flowing through me after reading each one.

I tell myself to quit checking them, but I can’t help it. I know certain reviews could potentially make me a better writer for addressing each of their concerns, but I hadn’t considered the fact that some people forget that authors are only human and have feelings too. Especially those with private accounts and unidentifiable screen names. How convenient for them. (more…)

Late for the Wedding

This is a historical romantic suspense novel by Amanda Quick, the final book in a three-part series, about Lavinia Lake and Tobias March, occasional business partners and sometimes lovers.

Book Review:

I wish I could give it a five, but it just wouldn’t be fair. I would have to say the first two books in the series were more to my liking. I actually preferred the bantering between Lavinia and Tobias and hoped for a little more of it in book three. It didn’t necessarily live up to my expectations in that department. I also hoped, since the book is called “Late for the Wedding“, that there would actually be a wedding at the end. Not the case. Kind of disappointing. (more…)

Undone By Her Tender Touch

“I must say my heart truly ached for like 95% of this story.” … Christa Simpson

This was my first review on Goodreads and so I’m excited to say that I tried a new to me author on for size and loved her.

After my sister insisted how much I would enjoy a Maya Banks romance, I finally gave in and read this story. I was unsure whether starting at the final book of the series was a smart idea, but I loved it and I’m not sure that I would have felt the same after reading the first three in the series.

So basically the story went as follows: Boy meets girl. Boy wants girl. Boy tells girl he wants to screw her – one night only – and of course girl agrees (apparently he’s incredibly sexy and rich). Boy takes girl to his mansion for a night of amazingly hot sex. All night. And it was all good until she gets knocked up. That’s where the story turns and my heart hurt from there on out.

I must say my heart truly ached for like 95% of this story. As soon as their night of passion ended, it was a continual downward spiral, inching back up numerous times, only to force you farther down the spiral. I wanted to pay attention to the POV of the characters and the quality of writing, which I must say was very good, but I couldn’t stay focused on that because I was too drawn in to the storyline. I read this story in one night. I stayed up into the early wee hours to finish it because I couldn’t stop without knowing what was going to happen. (more…)
